This
is an opportunity to join a small team during a period of transition from Sea Fisheries Committee to Inshore Fisheries and
Conservation Authority (IFCA). This change will take place under the provisions of the Marine and Coastal
Access Act 2009 which will result in a significant increase in duties as well as organisational changes.
The
successful applicant will assist in future planning and preparation to meet specified duties and deadlines of the new IFCA.
Creation of the new Authority is due to commence in October 2010 and be fully implemented in April 2011. Additional
main duties will be to assist in implementing instructions from the new Authority and take on specific responsibilities that
are identified during the set-up process.
Routine duties will include participation in the day
to day running of the Authority, coordination of enforcement operations, training, report writing, attendance at meetings
and occasional crewing of the Committee’s Patrol Vessel.
Applicants must be educated to degree level or equivalent,
have experience with an enforcement organisation at both operational and managerial level and have a working knowledge of
marine environmental and fisheries issues.
A 6 month probation period applies to this post.
